Collection: Sogetsu Pottery Studio

History of Sogetsu Pottery Studio

It was established in 1973 by the third head of the Sogetsu school, Hiroshi Teshigahara, who was an avant-garde creative practitioner in a variety of fields, including not only ikebana but also painting, film, ceramics, calligraphy and garden design.

It was later passed down to the fourth head of the school, Akane Teshigahara, and continues to this day. It is primarily used as a production site for vases used in Ikebana, and also as a facility where members of the Sogetsu School can learn how to make their own vases.
